Tree Planting

As the cooperative names sounds “Kyarumba Banywani Trees Farmers Savings and Credits Cooperative society”, Tree planting is A conjugating project among the areas of KBT operation. The sky rocketing numbers of over 8000 members subscribing to Kbt is predominantly a result of tree planting

The major trees planted are of indigenous type particularly Grevillea Robusta that most of the cooperative farmers have planted due to its adaptability and persistence to the harsh environment. Besides Grevellia Robusta other trees species planted include;

Maesopsis eminii, Prunas Africana, Persea American, Mangifera indica, Markhamia Lutea, Artocapus, Polyscias Fulva, Toona Serrata, khaya, Albizia spp, Terminalia spp, Fagra spp among others under the program of carbon Trade to fight accumulation of carbon emissions and pollution. The trees are vivid in most areas of implementation thus a great positive impact to the environment and natural conservation.

Coffee Business

Basing on the cooperative objective of “encouraging group business to improve member savings” the cooperative sought of engaging in coffee business as one of the projects that will trigger the improvement of lives for farmers. This resulted into start of business in 2021.

The major grades that are dealt in are;

  • Red cherry
  • Drudger
  • Parchment

Kbt has trustworthy agents in places of operation who the farmers avail coffee to that is then transported to the operation branches offices to verification. The farmers are availed with receipts reflecting any kilograms to capture the list of customers that support business. Additionally, receipts are issued out to ensure proper accountability for funds and accurate reporting.

The collected red cherry would initially be sundried and processed into the final product of drudger that would be sorted into clean coffee and then sold to a grievolve Uganda.

However, due to the small space of Kbt stores, red cherry is no longer sundried but rather sold directly on receive from the farmers to A grievolve. The diversion of operation was reached upon by a resolution from Business committee representatives from branches of operation on identifying how red cherry required adequate space that is still a challenge to KBT
